China Unicom denying bid for Nigerian mobile company
CBJ Feb 22 - On Monday, the second largest mobile carrier in China, China Unicom, has denied bidding for the former state telecom monopoly of Nigeria. The company has said it was concerned about recent media reports that it was included in a proposed privatisation and announced it has not authorised any of their employees to speak on the deal. The Nigerian National Council on Privatisation announced last Tuesday that a $2.5 billion bid for Nortel was led by a consortium including Unicom.
